The Special Olympics are a wonderful opportunity for children and adults with disabilities to compete in a multitude of sports.  Training and competing help people work on physical fitness and development of skills, while building confidence.  It also provides a lot of fun and socialization for people who are sometimes left on the fringe of activities.

There are Special Olympics competitions in both rhythmic and artistic gymnastics.  Did you enjoy this girl’s hoop routine?  She does better with a hoop than most people without disabilities can do!

The third annual national Gymnastics Special Olympics will take place May 4-5 in Marietta, GA.  What a great opportunity for people with disabilities who have worked and trained hard!
