Aly Raisman was one of the awesome gymnasts in the “Fierce Five” victors for the U.S. at the 2012 Olympics. After taking time off from gymnastics, she’s back in training and trying to make a come-back. It’s been a long haul, for after taking a year off from doing any gymnastics, it’s hard to get the body back in shape and to redevelop the type of skills needed to excel.
As a first step toward getting back into competition, Aly will be competing at the Jesolo Trophy in March. If she does well there, she’ll be on track to keep competing in hopes of making the 2016 Olympic gymnastics team.
Gymnastlike.org reports:
The annual Jesolo Trophy is a high level international competition that USA attends as their opening meet of the year. The U.S. often sends a large group of juniors and seniors and uses this meet as a gauge to see how prepared their gymnasts are. It is also a good opportunity to show their new routines in front of international judges. The 2015 Jesolo Trophy will be held March 28.
Raisman was added back to the U.S. National Team this past November along with Olympic teammate Gabby Douglas. Neither gymnast has competed since the London Olympics but both have stated their goal to make another Olympic team.
