Although injuries are normal in gymnastics, it is rare for a gymnast to become paralyzed from a fall.  But it does happen from time to time.  This newscast tells the story of Kathryn Mahoney, whose gymnastics career was suddenly ended by a fall when practicing a vault.

Almost every sport has tragic stories.  This is one of them. But it’s not the end of the story for Kathryn.

Here is the story of the rehab she is going through.  WLNS Sports Anchor Lisa Byington reports.

It’s wonderful to see that she is persistent and determined in working toward her recovery goals!  I think that the attitudes developed during her gymnastics training are now helping her to achieve as much as possible through rehabilitation. Although her hopes as a gymnast have been dashed, she has not given up on achievement in life.
