Ganna Rizatdinova Won, But the Wrong National Anthem Was Played
How embarrassing! Ganna is a Ukranian, and she won the gold medal for her hoop performance at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championship in Kiev. As she was honored at the top of the podium, wearing the gold medal, the Russian national anthem started to be played. Hoots and jeers filled the stadium, and the music was quickly discontinued and the correct anthem played. What is crazy about this is that the competition is actually being held in the Ukraine!
