To many people, rhythmic gymnastics is an unknown sport. However it is growing in popularity in the United States, even though so far U.S. rhythmic gymnasts have not mastered the sport as the Russians and several other European countries have. Lydia Bree was one of the pioneers of the sport here in America. She competed internationally in the late ’70’s and early ’80’s. Recently she was inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
Although rhythmic gymnastics has become much more advanced and difficult since the days when Lydia performed, we can still appreciate her grace and the beauty of her performances when we watch videos like this one.
