After every Olympics, requirements for skill levels change – usually meaning that gymnastics routines become more difficult.  Recently new rules were developed for Levels 4 and 5, which are the levels where gymnasts begin to compete.  Compulsory moves are required at these levels.  Today’s video shows those required for girls’ floor exercise.

USA Gymnastics reports concerning Levels 4 and 5:

Both of these levels are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level. Competitive opportunities are provided up to and including the USA Gymnastics State Championships.

It’s interesting that a girl can compete at both Levels 4 and 5 at a gymnastics competition if her coach believes that she can meet the standards of both levels.  Level 4 is more difficult than it used to be.
