This vault was performed by Nia Dennis in the juniors’ competition at the 2014 P&G Gymnastics Championships. Nia is a rising star who shows lots of talent. She and her good friend Gabby Douglas are training together in Columbus, OH. Both of them have their hopes set on being on the USA Olympics Gymnastics Team in 2016.
The Columbus Dispatch reports:
…Douglas said she has found the perfect place to prepare to become the first woman to win consecutive Olympic all-arounds since Vera Caslavska of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
“Long story short, my previous coach was asking me to do things I couldn’t do,” Douglas said after a training session this week. “That’s how I ended up here. I’m training for Rio in 2016, and this is a great place to do it. I love it here. The atmosphere is great, and the people are amazing.”
Nia, of course, is benefiting from having her good friend as a mentor. Gabby can give her lots of tips on how to handle the pressures of competition.
